Door Of Hope Fellowship Statement of Faith
-
We believe that there is only one eternal God, creator of all things, Who manifests in three distinct personalities – God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit – the Triune Godhead. Deut 6:4, Isa 43:10, Matt 28:19, Luke 3:22, I John 5:7
-
We believe that God the Father is sovereign, omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent and self-existent.He is present both in and out of time and space with no beginning or end. It is through His spoken Word that the earth, the heavens and all within them came into existence. Gen 1:1, John 1:1-3, Col 1:17, Ps 90:2, Rev 1:8
-
We believe that Jesus of Nazareth is God the Son – the Word incarnate, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Jesus is both God and man. He lived among us and suffered all temptations but never sinned. He presented Himself as the final atoning sacrifice, once for all sin – salvation by God’s grace. Matt 1:23, Heb 7:26, Acts 10:38, II Cor 5:21, I Cor 15:4, Phil 2:9-11, I Thes 4:15-18
-
We believe that God the Holy Spirit indwells all believers in the atoning sacrifice of Jesus. The Holy Spirit empowers the believer to live a life pleasing to God. He instructs and guides believers to what is true and strengthens us to resist what is not God. The Holy Spirit is our helper, counselor and comforter sent by the Father in Jesus name to teach us all things. I John 5:7, John 14:16,26, John 16:13
-
We believe that the Bible is God’s inspired, authoritative, and inerrant Word and is foundational to God’s healing work in our lives. The Holy Spirit uses the Word of God to expose lies, to reveal truth, and to guide His people. All scriptures agree in fact and intent with all other scripture. II Tim 3:15-17, I Thess 2:13, II Peter 1:21
-
We believe that all persons are created in the image of God. It is God’s desire to fellowship with us, as family, but sin alienates us from His presence. All persons have sinned and therefore are condemned to death. No person can atone for his own sin. It is not through works but by faith in the atoning sacrifice of Jesus that we are justified and raised from death to new life where we will be with God as family for eternity. Rom 10:13& 15, Titus 2:11, Eph 2:8
-
We believe that the Church is the body of Christ on earth and that Jesus is the head. Each believer in the atoning sacrifice of Jesus is a member of the Church, regardless of denominational preference. The purpose of the Church is to give praise and worship to God, and to go into all the world to present the good news of Jesus’ atoning sacrifice. Acts 2:47, Rom 10:9
-
We believe in the communion of believers where we come to Christ’s table to rememberthe sacrifice He made for us. The communion table is open to all believers. Matt 26:26-28, Luke 22:19-20, 1 Cor 11:23-32
-
We believe that the Holy Spirit gives gifts to all believers as enumerated in the Bible. These giftsare active today as they were in the early Church. Each believer receives a measure of all gifts, and a greater measure ofcertain gifts as the Holy Spirit wills. The distribution of gifts is to cause the Church to serve together as a body with noone person empowered to do all things. 1 Co 12:1-31
-
We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit. This is a filling of the power of the Holy Spirit beyond that which is received at confession of belief in the atoning sacrifice of Jesus. It is for empowering the believer to accomplish the work of the Holy Spirit and is accompanied with evidences of the filling. Acts 2:4, Acts 10:44-46
Water Baptism -- We believe in water baptism in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit so that we fulfill the commandment of Jesus. Matt 28:19, Acts 2:41, Acts 2:38
-
We believe in water baptism in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit so that we fulfill the commandment of Jesus. Matt 28:19, Acts 2:41, Acts 2:38
-
We believe that all believers are adopted into the family of God, are known as children of God, and are made fellow heirs with Jesus Christ. 1 John 3:1-2, Eph 3:14-15, Rom 8:14-17
-
We believe that God’s healing power is available today. Our Lord may heal a person directly and often mediates the gifts of His healing through the Body of Christ, the Church. Physical and emotional healing must be put in the context of the ultimate healing process of salvation by God’s grace. All healing was accomplished by the stripes Jesus received. It is the work of the Holy Spirit as He restores health and wholeness in Jesus’ name. Healing is the fruit of the Spirit’s work. Isa 53:3-5, Matt 8:16-17, James 5:14-16
-
We believe that Christ’s Church is in a spiritual battle against the rulers, the authorities, the forces of evil and that we are most effective in that battle when we are unified under the Headship of Christ. Unity of the Spirit motivates cooperation beyond denominational bounds. James 4:7, II Cor 10:3-5, I Peter 5:8-9, Isa 54:17, Eph 6:11-17
-
We believe in the sanctity of life. Life begins at conception and that God wonderfully an immutably created each person as distinctly male or female – biologically and chromosomally. These two distinct and complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. Jer 1:4-5, Psalm 139:13-16, Gen 1:27
-
We believe that God created marriage to be exclusively the union of one man and one woman – defined biologically and chromosomally – and that intimate sexual activity is to occur exclusively within that union. We believe that any form of sexual intimacy outside of the marriage covenant is a violation of God’s intended will and purpose for mankind. Gen 1:27-28, Gen 2:24, Matt 19:4-6, I Cor 6:9, Mark 10:6-9
-
We believe that all people must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. It will always be our intent as a ministry to reflect these qualities and any behavior or attitudes not displaying these qualities should be repudiated, as they are not in accord with scripture of the Spirit of Christ. I Cor 13:4-8, I John 4:7-8
-
We believe that God offers forgiveness, redemption transformation, and restoration to each who names Jesus of Nazareth – crucified, dead, and risen again to life – as the Son of God and confesses and repents from their sin, humbly asking for forgiveness through Him.
I John 1:9, Psalm 103:12, Eph 1:17, Isa 43:25, Isa 1:18
